Landscape Supplies FAQ
What landscaping supplies products do you have?
Urban Paving have a huge range of landscaping supplies, with over 46 bins of product as well as some of our special coloured stones available from 1-tonne bags. Mulch bark, topsoil, compost, coloured stones, grey stones and aggregates for constructing landscape areas (basecourse etc.) – you name it, we have it.
How do I buy your landscape supplies products?
Urban Paving’s landscaping products can be bought by the bag (20 litre), scoop (0.3 m3) or delivered in bulk by the cubic metre.
Do you have trailers?
Yes we have single-axle trailers (good for one or two scoops of product), tandem-axle trailers (three scoops of product) and high-sided trailers (up to 5 scoops of lighter products like bark). To give you an idea, a scoop is a third of a cubic metre. Our trailers are charged at $25 per half day and $50 per full day.
How many scoops of product fit into an Urban trailer?
Our single axle trailers can take up to 2 scoops of any product, the tandem axles can take up to 3 scoops (just) of any product. Our high-sided trailers can take 5 scoops of bark, 3 scoops of soil/composts, or 2 scoops of aggregates. A higher quantity than those listed would be too much for the high sided trailers. The water levels (volumes) for the different trailers are:
- Single axle low side = 0.7 cubic metres
- Tandem axle = 0.8 cubic metres
- High sided = 1.7 cubic metres
Do you deliver product?
Yes, we can deliver up to 5 tonne of product, depending on the product. For stones and aggregate we can deliver 3 cubic metres (10 scoops), for soils we can deliver 4 cubic metres and for barks and composts we can deliver 6 cubic metres.
What size are your trucks and will they fit up my driveway?
Urban Paving’s trucks are 2.1 m wide and 2.4 m high before the deck goes up. Their gross (loaded) weight is 9 tonne, (be aware of the weight allowance for your driveway, but there are very few driveways that will not handle our trucks).
How much product do I need?
Working out the amount of product you need is done by taking the area (square metres) and multiplying it by the depth required (refer to question below).
Here’s an example:
1. Take the length of your area and multiply it by the width, e.g. 5 m by 7 m means 35 square metres.
2. Take this area and multiply it by the depth, e.g. if you want the product to be 5cm deep, you calculate 35 m2 x 0.05 = 1.75 m3.
You have worked out you need 1.75 cubic metres of product.
How deep should the product be?
The recommended depth varies, depending on type and of size of product, what you are trying to achieve and if you are using weedmat. Here are some guidelines for depth of product:
Product | Apx depth without weed mat | Apx depth with weed mat |
Nugget Bark | 50 – 100 mm (0.05 – 0.1) | 40 – 70 mm (0.04 – 0.07) |
Small Stones (5 – 20 mm) | 20 – 60 mm (0.02 – 0.06) | 15 – 40 mm (0.015 – 0.04) |
Larger stones (25 – 50 mm) | 40 – 80 mm (0.04 – 0.08) | 30 – 70 mm (0.03 – 0.07) |
Drive Chip | 30 mm (0.03 top-up) | N/A |
Drive Chip | 50 mm (0.05 new drive) | N/A |
